Home shows when tickets go on sale, faster photos, and lighter pages

Home now tells members and organisers when tickets go on sale, photos open and scroll faster with a date rail on the Timeline, and every page downloads less before it shows.

Ticket sales on Home

  • Events on Home say when their tickets go on sale, for example Tickets on sale Sat 3 Oct at 12:00.
  • On the day, those events lead the list in an On sale today group and the card at the top of Home leads with the sale. Once the time has passed it reads Went on sale at 19:00.
  • Organisers see when their own sales open on the events they manage, with Your sale opens today on the top card.
  • Home appears in one step, with every section arriving together, and coming back to Home from elsewhere in the app is instant.
  • On a phone, event rows have more room: a long name takes two lines and a date always stays in one piece.

Photos

  • The photo Timeline scrolls smoothly from top to bottom, on phones and on computers.
  • On a computer, a date rail beside the Timeline maps your photos by year and month. Point at it to see the month under the pointer, then click or drag to bring those photos into view.
  • In the photo viewer the next photo is ready when you move on, and thumbnails you have just seen come back at once.
  • Scrolling fast through a large album or Timeline keeps every photo loading.

Tickets and refunds

  • A pass that covers several dates keeps its entry code for the dates still to come, in Tickets and from the link in the ticket email.
  • If a refund cannot reach the buyer’s card after it was accepted, organisers get a Refund failed warning in their notifications and by email.
  • The warning on your finance page names the event and the buyer, links to the order, and explains what to check in Stripe before you return the money another way.
  • At checkout for an event with members and guests, the note under Optional ticket assignment describes your two choices in plain words.

Faster pages

  • Every page is lighter. Most need about a fifth less to download before they show, so Home, your tickets and the door scanner open sooner.
  • The difference is biggest on a phone, on mobile data and where the signal is weak.

Smaller touches

  • When you create a hub, the banner on its join page starts at the position you chose for the hub banner.
  • Back from Edit profile and from My Photos returns you to where you started.
  • The photo audience for people who were scanned in at the door is called Checked-in Attendees.

Behind the scenes

Home asks for all of its lists together and waits up to 1.2 seconds so it can draw them in one step. Album pictures are found with one database lookup each, kept on the server's own disk for up to fourteen days, and a browser may keep one for four minutes. The shared building blocks that every page loads were trimmed to the small ones, which is where the lighter pages come from: 214 of our 223 pages need less code to show.
