Personal statuses, a heart for photos, and a payments hardening pass

Personal statuses on events, saved photos become likes, faster chat photos, and a deep payments reliability pass.

Tell people you are going, in your own words

Events now have personal statuses: a short note and an optional photo you can add to an event you are attending, so other attendees can see who is coming and why.

  • Add a title, an optional line of detail, and an optional photo to any event you have a ticket for or are hosting.
  • Statuses are private to the event: only fellow attendees, the host, and hub admins can see them, never the public.
  • The event attendees page lists everyone’s statuses first as compact rows, with the rest of the guest list below. Open one to read it in full and step through the others.
  • Statuses work even when the guest list is hidden: you still get a clear place to add your own and browse what others have shared.
  • Organisers can turn the feature off per event and clear a status if they need to. Each hub chooses whether it is on by default.

Photos now have a heart

Saved photos are now likes: a quiet way to show appreciation for a photo in an album.

  • Tap the heart in the photo viewer to like a photo. It shows a running count, and you can open the list of who liked it.
  • A new event-grouped Liked tab gathers everything you have liked, organised by event.
  • Likes are appreciation only. They never sort, rank, or recommend photos, and there are no leaderboards or view counts.
  • When someone likes your photo you get a single, gentle notification per photo rather than a stream of pings.
  • Liking respects album privacy: if you lose access to a photo later, your Liked tab shows a locked placeholder instead of the image.
  • Everyone who already saved photos keeps them, now shown as likes.

Sending photos and GIFs in chat is faster

  • Images and GIFs you send in chat now upload straight to storage with a progress bar and a cancel button, instead of routing the whole file through the app first.
  • Photos shared into album-linked channels still flow into the album as before, with a clear note about who will be able to see them.

Payments are more reliable, start to finish

The checkout and payments pipeline got a thorough hardening pass.

  • If a paid checkout ever cannot be fulfilled, the platform now refunds the buyer automatically and flags it.
  • Refunds are safer: zero-amount and negative refunds are rejected outright, and resale refund retries check before re-issuing so no one is paid twice.
  • Payment notifications from Stripe that arrive late, out of order, or after a failed first attempt are now reprocessed correctly instead of being quietly dropped.
  • Closing or reopening the checkout tab mid-purchase no longer wedges your order.
  • A genuine payout failure that lands after an earlier success is no longer hidden.

Schedule an event to publish itself

Draft events can now be set to publish at a future time. The event stays a draft until then, and goes live automatically through the usual checks, with its announcement sent at publish time.

Tighter privacy around guests and stock

  • The guest list is now visible only to attendees, the host, and hub admins. Other visitors no longer see who’s going.
  • Public and buyer-facing pages no longer reveal exact remaining ticket numbers. An exact count appears only once stock is genuinely low; above that it stays private.
  • Profile hubs respect privacy: a shared-hub list now only appears for viewers who actually share that hub with you.

For organisers and admins

  • Event Day has a new Download emergency list: a self-contained, printable attendee checklist for when scanning is not available. Emails appear only for owners and admins.
  • Hub plan-upgrade and billing links now land with the Billing section already open, every time.
  • Email Studio’s style presets were simplified to Hubbaly Light, Hubbaly Dark, and Warm Editorial. Drafts saved on the old “Minimal” style move to Hubbaly Light automatically.

Chat improvements

  • Editing a recent message on mobile no longer jumps the conversation to an unrelated spot. The chat now stays pinned to the bottom while the on-screen keyboard opens, closes, and resizes.
  • On iPhone, push notifications for a shared photo now read “Sent a photo” or “Shared a video” instead of exposing a raw file path.
  • Long-pressing a message on iPhone no longer pops up the system text-selection menu over the reaction and reply controls.

Small but useful

  • Image upload limits are now a consistent 20MB across the app: avatars, banners, flyers, and event status photos were raised to 20MB, and chat GIFs and channel avatars now match. An over-size upload shows a clean “too large” message.
  • Opening someone’s profile preview from chat is now instant.
  • Authored event update emails no longer show a stray character at the end of paragraphs.

Behind the scenes

Adds migrations for photo likes, the photo-liked notification type, personal event statuses, scheduled event publishing, chat direct-upload bookkeeping, and notification de-duplication; expands live-event upload observability and regression coverage.
